I dont think there's a health issue, but putting boiler water in a stainless vessel is a waste of money. I don't think running cold pottable water through the small s.s. coil would give it enough time to pick up BTU's. Real inverse indirects have very long copper coils to allow the DHW spend some time in the tank before exiting.

    Can an indirect be used as a reverse indirect (preheating mainly) or does the stainless steel coil of a typical indirect create a copper/stainless interface that is a corrosion or health issue?
