Open system to closed system

in THE MAIN WALL
Boiler system has a open vent in 2nd story bathroom not attic as I read most open systems do. It also appears to have a compression tank in the basement. Is the open tank still necessary? It seems to supply water to 2 radiators upstairs if the water is turned on. I'm a newbie when it comes to this and wanted some advice.

    Hello...

    The attic tank usually vents through the roof, and is only used on gravity systems. The basement tank is used when the gravity system has been converted to forced hot water. If you have a pump...or pumps...in the basement, the attic tank is not needed. You want a closed system, pressurized to 12-15 psi. Pictures of the boiler piping will help.
