Replacement air vents

I have purchased through the Internet with success for my one-pipe. Used to buy from Controls Depot but they recently closed. Have also bought from State Supply.

I have used a mixture of Hoffman 1-A's, Hoffman 40's and Gorton vents. Gorton makes a radiator vent that is as large as its #1 main vent. Good for large radiators. The 1-A's are the adjustable kind, also handy.

Replacement air vents
I need new air vents. Have 1950's Hoffmans and mixed brands on now that just don't seem to be going the job anymore. I want to replace all instead of cleaning the old ones. Any recommendations of brand or where to purchase these? It's a 1 pipe system if that helps.
Thanks!0 -
Thanks, checked out the site and will probably go with he Gortons. Barring any more recommendations.0 -
Just a caveat: Don't use Gorton main vents on radiators as I believe they do not close against water (if the system ever floods). Could be wrong on that but that is my recollection. Also, if you are out East, you can probably find vents at Home Depot and hardware stores, because there is still a lot of single pipe steam there. Not so here in Minnesota.0 -
HD vents
I believe the local Home Depot here in Massachusetts sells Jacobus/MaidOMist main vents, as well as some other vent which I can't recall the brand name of. "US" something. It's an adjustable vent.

Check your main vents too
The system will heat faster and more evenly with properly sized main vents. I like Gortons for this too. Measure the length and diameter of each main and tell us what vent is on it, if any. We can tell you what you need.0
