It depends on which code body his local authority follows. If it's NFPA-31 then he can have 1,320 gallons (4 - 330's). If they follow the International Code Council (ICC) it's 660 gallons.

I just had a customer ask me how many oil tanks he is allowed to put in his basement. I cant find any kind of code on this. Is there an actual limit or just what can be made to fit?0
