    I am almost sure that there is a program for glass enclosed structures. Type of glass with r values are out there I'm sure. It's like a pool in a similar enclosure. Everything has a value that can be calculated.

    Manual J

    Manual J has a separate section devoted specifically to solariums.

    The standard Manual J calculations assume that the fenestration in a particular room (each wall) does not exceed 25% of the gross wall area. When it does, you have to alter the calculations. The main concern with solariums is that the heat load in the space will be peaking for a larger portion of the day as the sun will continuously be beating down on the contents of the rom.

    Any of my design students want to chime in here for some extra credit?
