in THE MAIN WALL
we usually drill and tap into a fitting, rather than a pipe. The metal is thicker there.

Meaure the length and diameter of each main and we can tell you what vent you need.

    Main Vents

    Hello: question to pros: I insulated my Main pipes; I have a one pipe steam system. I noticed there's no vents on the Main; I know there should be. As far as putting them in now, the pipes are 50 years old, are there any risks adding vents on the mains at this point. Should it be a job that could bring other problems, because of tampering with older pipes.
