Then there should be no reason to use 1/2"joist trak. 3/8" is much easer to pull through joist bays then 1/2"pex. It does not expand as much unless you are using 1/2"pex-al-pex granted your manafolds will start to expand. The 1/2" uponor pex kinks very easly if you are not careful.

It depends on a lot of conditions,but the output is generally about the same with only slightly higher temp needed. Sure is a lot easier to use than 1/2" !!!!0 -
the plates should prevent expansion, except in supply/return runs. Leave run for them to expand, use reset control.
You're right though in MOST cases 1/2" isn't really needed; it does give you longer loop lengths which, in some areas, might be worthwhile.. that does reduce joist penetrations.
But you need to know what you're doing with 3/8" design in terms of flow rate requirements and frictional losses, moreso than with 1/2". Obviously there isn't as much "wiggle room".0
