We have been successful using a layer of marine plywood glued and screwed to the slab and then using QuikTrac. Adds 1 1/4" in thickness

    Adding radiant heat to an existing slab on grade

    Any suggestions on the best manner to add tubing to an existing slab on grade to minimize the added thickness? I have been looking at the Roth panels(inulsation and tubing gooves) I am guessing the more insulation I can get below the tubing the better I will be? The customer wants to install radiant tubing and tile in an existing breezeway between the garage and house. They know the doors will have to be raised but want to minimize the new floor thickness.

    I think the roth panel is a fine product for that application.

    Maximize R value

    You want to try and maximize the R value between the heat source and the old slab. This will keep more of the heat whre you want it, and decrease response times.

    Roth panels sound like it would be your best choice. See pics
