I used to be anxious about taking off the face plate of the burner but am now used to it. Its very easy, and the best way to work on things. Yesterday I changed out a blower on a 140M. I took the whole burner and blower assemby off and worked on it on a workbench. Used a long T handle allen wrench for that one hard to get to screw, and was done in no time flat. I changed the blower and cleaned out and flushed the combustion chamber all in about 45 minutes. Also checked and pumped up the expansion tank from 10 psi back up to 12psi. It's getting easier all the time. Just a little learning curve. It's not your Fathers boiler. WW

better way to mount wall-hung Munchkins?
I've been reading about some of the problems with Munchkins and the descriptions of some of the difficulty in making repairs. Is there a better way to mount the units to make repairs easier? Some sort of stand-off frame that gets it out in the open more?0 -
walls
Access to the boiler is made through the front, so the distance from the wall is irrelavent.
The easiest way to service them (and believe me, it it easy) is to take the 4 screws out of the gas supply elbow, take off the 6 nuts around the circumference of the face plate, and remove the entire blower/burner assembly.0 -
maybe
It just may be my father's boiler! His old American Standard (circa 1954) is getting tired.0 -
I can't believe
you havent upgraded it yet. That boiler belongs in a museum or a scrap yard. C'mon Guy.

Hey Guy,
The Smithsonian called...they're looking for one O' them for the Heat collection. Save your Dad some cash and bring him(kicking and screaming if need be) into the new century.
I agree with Wayne, after some training, a bit of a learning curve is applicable but servicing almost anything on Munchies isn't that difficult. Think a wall hung unit is tough to get at? Try this one.0 -
