Vari-Valve Problems

We've installed hundreds of Heat-timer Vari-Valves over the years and suddenly, after about four years we're finding some 20%-30% of them failing.

We opened a few of them up (not an easy task) to find the poppet valve (a small stump with an "o" ring) that is pressed into the sylphon bellows fell off and sat on the seat stopping the steam.

I think this was caused by internal alcohol pressure deforming the part of the monel metal bellows that the brass poppet is snapped into.

We're waiting to hear from Heat-timer.

Anyone else see this out there?

Trouble

I put 11 of them on my house about nine years ago and four stopped working. I wrote to Heatimer but they ignored me.

after many years of trying them ALL. There is ONLY one.......GORTON - across the board - Hoffman #2. Hoffmans are as well built, but do not offer the same venting capacities. The ones you speak of are
not adustable AND they will spew condensate like a faucet...all over the carpet. GORTONS - hand down - Mad dog

Had same problem

I put in all vari-valves 2 years ago, they started failing one after the other this year. I changed them all. I know the feeling on Maid-O-Mist but I put them in and they are working great and are very quiet.
