2 pipe hot water system

in THE MAIN WALL
need to install a new boiler 40' away from the location of the existing boiler. Its a hot water system with 2 zones, both 1 1/4 feeds and returns running the perimeter of the house with 1/2" branch feeds and returns for the convectors. The 1 1/4 main lines just dead end (capped off)Do i need to run the feed circ line to one of the ends and do i leave them capped or should i do something different? Thanks for any helpand advice

    Dave, what is the objective here? Are you trying to back-feed the existing boiler? Make a back-up/standby arrangement? Divorce some remote zones and put them on the new boiler?

    A stated objective might get you a better answer.

    Just want to replace the old dinosaur oil burner with a new gas slantfin unit. Going to use an indirect h/w heater and 2 zones main floor and upstairs with room for a future addition as needed down the line.

    I see.

    Are the zones Mono-Flow (diverter tee) types? So long as you do not go against the grain of the valves (against their stated flow direction), you should be fine.

    If the system is two-pipe supply and return, making a cross-over at the ends (forming a loop) can reduce your pressure drop and allow a lower circulator speed. Does that make sense?
