Hopefully your finished basement is insulated and has thermo windows (insulation is a lot cheaper than installing a bigger boiler).It would be good if your current boiler is large enough to heat the basement and your upstairs living area without any other changes.

My basement is finished. I want to leave the mains uninsulated to give heat to the basement.

insulate the steam mains and install a baseboard loop off the condensate. controlled temperature. comfort & economical.0
