How do you know if your thermostat is bad? When I turn on the heater all I hear is a clicking noise and no air blows out of the vents.

thermostats
In recent weeks there has been information provided regarding thermostats for a one pipe steam heat system. Does anyone have experience as to which brand or type of programmable thermostat best simulates a mechanical mercury bulb with anticipator? I replaced a mercury bulb with a Honeywell 5/2 programmable. The cycles per hour are at the lowest setting. There is a one degree tolerance so that the boiler shuts off too soon. The result is partial radiator heating. Please advise. Thanks0 -
Happy New Year..
The first Q: you might want to change your differential to 2* and see if that helps. Meaning that if stat is set at 70*, it will drop the room temp to roughly 68*, or 67.8* and give you a longer cycle.
On the second post the clicking means little. What you need to do is explain more in detail of what you have, what you see and hear to better help answer your Q:-)
