Main Vent Replacement?

I just converted the system to Gas. Almost all new plumbing around the boiler. I still have the old Main Vent. It looks as old as the old boiler. It never caused the old system to shut down but I did have a lot of distribution problems. Should I get it replaced? Where can I get a new one and about how much should it cost?

Absolutely change it if it's that old. Chances are it's not working and is the cause of your distribution problems. Cost depends on where you buy it and what kind and size it is. Consult a pro. Changing the vent is the easy part, getting the right one for the job is the tough part.

newer boilers make steam more quickly than older ones, so main vents are critical.

It sounds

It sounds like he converted an old boiler to gas. If that is the case gas or oil it is still an old boiler.

Main vents

David:

Do as Steamhead says. Measure the length of the main and its diameter. Properly venting the mains is very important and Steamhead is the best. He has helped me many times.
