I have a large baseboard job coming up. Approx. 600 feet of baseboard and many feet of supply and return piping. It was a fire in a church and everything needs to be replaced as it was before fire. I am looking for pro's and con's on the Rigid Pro Press system. Is the investment really worth it? I have been thinking about it for a while now, and with this job coming up I think the time may be right. So what do you think, should I make the investment or not? Thanks for your help. Happy Thanksgiving Rian

    Why not Pex?

Look at the labor & material savings...

Why not a combination of the two

We are just finishing a complete system in a ranch home that had electric baseboard heat. The main piping around the boiler is all 1" (yours is probably much bigger) and is copper. From there we ran out to the BB with 5/8" Fosta-Pex and used Viega's BB fittings to adapt to the pex. We ran all the zones from a common manifold with Viega powerheads providing the zoning. Easy hook up and simple wiring. Worked out really nice and saved gobs of time. We used a cordless compact tool with that will press copper to 1" and pex to 1 1/2". For larger copper I have a Rems cordless, which has has been bulletproof, that we've used all the way up to 4".

I did question the restoration company about using pex. Being that it is an insurance job, the system needs to be back to pre-fire condition. They don't even want me to make changes to make the system work better.

Isnt Veiga the same company as the Rigid Pro Press? I think I saw somewhere they were connected.

    Typical insurance Co.

How stupid can you get. Tell the adjuster changes have to be made to bring the system up to current safety and code standards. See what he says then.

Viega IS propress. Ridge Tool is the company they decided to partner with when introducing the product here in North America. I don't look for the relationship to continue very much longer.
