Boiler won't turn on

Thanks to all those who helped.
Once I switched the wire on the module from 24V to TH-W and flipped the power switch on, the boiler fired right up.
Once it was up & running I discovered the relief valve dripping, (defective bladder ex-tank), spillage at the draft hood, (debris completely covering the flue penetration inside of the chimney).
More people should maintain their boilers better, they think because it's a gas unit it runs clean and never requires maintenance. Go figure.
Thanks again.

Boiler won't turn on
Hot water, 90K input Burnham boiler, gas, one zone, electronic ignition. Thermostat is calling, cirulator running but no flame or electronic ignition.
Checked for gas flow, checked all electrical connections, removed burner tube w/ pilot assembly, all looks good, properly grounded.
Replaced ignition module with a Honeywell S8610U, double checked all connections, confirmed that wires are placed properly, (switched them one at a time). Took apart pilot tube from main gas valve, there is no gas coming through and there is no spark to the ignitor.
Checked for low voltage power at module, good but no power on outlet terminals of module or at the gas control valve. Tried basic troubleshooting tips that came with the module with no success.
Help? Thanks in advance for all replies.

Check
Double check how the module is wired. If you have the 24vac to the module, it should be trying to light.

Boiler
As Mike T. says double check your wiring. On the S-8610U, there usually is NO connection to terminal #6--24 volt input @ #5 & 7.
However, if you were having problems and replaced the module and are still having trouble, the problem most likely wasn't the module. Is there a flue damper? If so, end switch may not be making. Reach up inside and GENTLY move damper vane. Yes/no? Pls advs...
Reread post--if you have power to leads @ module, damper not an issue. Check wiring at leads 5 & 7...0 -
Boiler won't turn on
Thanks for the replies gentlemen.
No damper and I triple checked the wiring, when I installed the new module I did one wire at a time and did not second guess myself switching wires around possibly causing damage to the new module. My low voltage tester does indicate that the module has power going to it but it is not sending power to the gas control or making any spark at the ignitor.
I believe there is a red and white wire coming from the relay that connects to the new module, if I remember correctly, the only connection that does not have a wire connected to it on the module is TH-W?

HWcontrol
You may want to reread the control directions. Replacing wire for wire is usually ok but the older controls make the module work by the tstat power going to 24V hot. The replacement control if there's no damper has the stat wire going to TH. It's confusing and the first time most techs used this control they made the mistake.0 -
Wiring
And there's your problem. IF your 24 volt power is red & white, they should connect to #5 (24v gnd) & #7 (TH-W). As I said earlier NOTHING CONNECTED TO #6.0 -

Boiler won't turn on
To Charles G., Mike T., Dale,
You guys are the best with the quick responses, Thanks so much. I'm going back there Friday morning and making the switch to TH-W on the module, (from the transformer). Right now the white and red from the transformer connect to the two 24V connections on the module.
P.S. I am a licensed Master Plumber but do not specialize in heating but would not hesitate to call in a pro when in a jam.
I WILL post back the results. Thank Goodness it's not the middle of February!

The only time
the 24V wire terminal on the S8610U should be wired is if you have a vent damper. If you look at the wiring instructions that come with the module there are some little triangles under the diagram, it pays to read those as it will tell you what I just stated.0 -
Boiler won't turn on
Thanks. There isn't a damper so I'm going to remove the connection on '24V' and switch it to 'TH-W' on the module. I would imagine that doing this will also provide low voltage power to the gas control?

Welcome to our world of HVAC. I personally reccomend annual checks for both safety and performance.
