it goes back to the beginning of central heating, and it's 1.7 Btuh per degree difference in temperature between the heating medium and the average air temperature in the room.
Which means the 240 that we accept for steam is sort of rounded off. Not sure how that happened, but it's stuff like that that keeps me going.

EDR Question
Hollohan writes that one s.f. EDR emits 240 btu/h when: a) air in the room is 70 degrees and b) there is one psi presssure in the radiator.
Is there a formula to calculate btu/h that one s.f. EDR would emit at room air temperatures less than 70 degrees in increments of 1 degree?0
