Can anyone spare 9 in. of 1-1/4 copper pipe?
I've gotta move my boiler a few inches to accommodate a moved wall, and I have to extend a 1-1/4 inch copper pipe to do it. My local Home Depot doesn't even have that size, and I shudder at buying a full 10 foot length at plumbing supply house prices just to use about 9 inches off one end and throw the rest in the recycle pile.
If anyone out there can spare about 9 inches (new, or good-condition used even) I'd gladly pay for shipping and your trouble and what you think the pipe is worth. I'm hoping that's a likely length for someone to have just sitting around as scrap.
Thanks,

how 'bout this
go to a scrap metal yard. They will sell you a piece at a fair price. scrap copper tube here in nyc is about $2/lb.0 -
did you ask?
did you ask a local supply house?
mine would surely give me 9 inches of 1 1/4 inch pipe, just buy some other suppplies you need/want too.0 -
You had better ask for the couplings you will need as well...

Thanks, I'm in Maryland.
Thanks greatly, everybody!
I'm in the Maryland suburbs of D.C.
I've bought some 1-1/4 in. couplings, and although they were a little overpriced (about $4.50 each) at least they don't break the bank.
I'm following up with David Sutton by e-mail, since he seemed like he might have a big enough supply he wouldn't miss a piece.
If that doesn't work out, I'll be taking up some of the other kind offers above.
I hadn't thought of a scrap dealer, and I may give that a shot, too. I'm a little scared of my local supply house (the only nearby place I know is a Ferguson Enterprises) since they're helpful enough, but not overly generous towards tiny customers without an account.
This Heating Help community truly is an amazingly helpful place...

Ferguson
Doesn't even like small customers with an account, they have bought a few of the older local supply houses here in KC, and I refuse to purchase from them..
