I just installed the new Utica
Made in the good ole U.S.A. The installation and startup was a breeze, and customer support is awesome. Just like every other Utica I have installed in the last 20+ years. They package their boilers good also, there was not a scratch on it. Bob Gagnon

Thank you,
for making a boiler that makes me look good. When is utica going to make an oil-fired mod-con boiler? I have customers waiting. I just heard on the news, they now have low sulphur diesel in the states. Thanks again, Bob Gagnon

Read all these messages with interest. Made me think back to my heavy mfg. days, where our fiercest competition was the Japanese. We just couldn't seem to catch up totally until we learned some bitter lessons. Then we also began to "design in" quality, so that parts could be manufactured and assembled correctly and with a very high level of first run capability. After trying for years to assure quality by inspecting everything, we also learned that it was a lot more cost efficient and higher quality by running processes that were highly capable of meeting specs. And we also learned how the Japanese made extensive use of simple devices that they put in line to "mistake proof" operations. All this is a whole new approach, and it brought us to become fully competitive in quality. So my point is that maybe these companies need a good competitor that is dedicated to the best quality product in the industry, and it will drive the others to do better also. For important characteristics of a product, we firmly believed that 99% was nowhere good enough, it had to be 100% every day.0 -
An update:
The Viessmann rep contacted me late last week and indicated that Viessmann wanted the existing power supply back so they can figure out what went wrong.
He has a new power supply and is looking for a good install time.
I also understand that he has talked to the Installation company.
It is being delayed for now because I am working incredible hours as the Nuke plant is in a refueling outage. While I had yesturday off - it was my first day off in about a dozen days - and it looks like it will be almost 2 weeks before I have another day off (although their should be some "short" days this week).
I tend to come home, eat, check email and a brief review of a few things on the net and go to sleep. Mornings are get up (often short of sleep), eat, shower - and off to work. I am sure many of you relate as it is peak heating season as well.
