Hot water radiator to steam

Hello,

I need to add heat to a small bathroom (5'x5'). The house currently has a one pipe steam system. The contractor has some small hot water radiators kicking around in his shed and wants to use one for the bathroom. Can you convert a hot water radiator to steam? My idea was to plug one side of the radiator to make it one pipe and then remove the coin vent to add a radiator vent. Will this work?

Thanks,

Jim

    hot water to steam rad

Yes it will work but the steam vent should be a third of the way down the radiator, not at the top like a water rad. Look carefully at the end section and you may find a boss that can be drilled and tapped for 1/8" NPT thread for the vent

    Good morning dear radiator

    How refreshing

A conversion from hot water to steam... :) All the good advice by Al, is already here, I just wanted to wish you well.

Steam radiators in the bathrooms are the best with the morning warm up. They're hot, they get you out of bed and they wait for you with scalding hot towels. All the nice luxuries of life.
