I can't recite the code but all the plumbing supply houses have a notice that it is NJ code. But not all towns require the lwco, but most due.Or should I say not all enforce the code on the books.I would install one in NJ.

LWCO not required?
I just had an interesting conversation with my brother in law who just completed his mandatory master plumbers continued education seminar today (New Jersey). He was told that a forced water boiler in a single family dwelling unit does NOT require a LWCO. I'm going to contact this instructor and ask for documentation for said "loop hole" any thoughts gents?

I don't know which code they go by, but if you check the International Mechanical Code, go to section 1007.1. It reads: "ALL steam and hot water boilers shall be protected with a low water cutoff control".0 -
MA. requires a lwco if radiation is connected to the boiler below the minimum safe water level-above it is not required.0
