Indirect DHW on steam system

I can't tell , are you pumping boiler water into the indirect coil from the boiler coil plate or the bottom of the boiler ? Do you see any buildup of crud in the coil after a few years of running ? Are there any warantee issues by using the Partner with steam ? We've never used an idirect on a steamer yet , but looking at your install makes me want to try one soon .

How difficult is this to do - assuming it can be done?

Hopefully I don't sound too ignorant, but we need to replace our current DHW setup (tankless coil) and I would like to go with an indirect system. I assume this can be done, but have run into roadblocks or extreme trepidation every time I have asked the question locally. Thanks for any incites offered. P.S. We are a young family of four.

    indirect on steam boiler

No comparison here. The indirect will give you almost limitless hot water with plenty of backup storage. Never tracked one, but a typical conversion to indirect from tankless on a hot water boiler saves 30% on fuel consumption. If your boiler is fairly new, get hold of a boiler manual. Most manufacturers show how to hook on up. Make sure the indirect is equipped with a proper tempering valve. Steam boiler produce higher temps and the indirect can easily overheat and those young fingers and toes need that extra protection from extreme hot water temps.

This is the last one we installed. They work just like an indirect on a forced water boiler. The tanks need to be instlled correctly for the system to work properly. This boiler ran great all year...........found the before pics.

    Wow!

Do I wish my install and insulation (read - asbestos) looked that good!

Thanks a million. I've found a local plumber that is going to help me out.

Helps that my office is right next to the local plumbing supply house.
