Main Vent Question

in THE MAIN WALL
I just installed a main vent (Hoffman #4A) and I'm concerned because there is very little clearance above the vent - maybe a half inch. There is plenty of clearance all around it. Will it still be able to vent air properly or should I break into the cieling above to give it more clearance?
