Indirect steam heat exchanger

Does anyone have any input on what is the most efficent way to use a steam heat exchanger to heat domestic hot water? Currently in the prison I work at the exchanger heats a hot water loop which then heats three 40 gallon indirect water heaters. Would it be better to run the domestic water directly through the exchanger and circulate the water to a large storage tank?

    they make a steam coil that goes directly into a large storage tank /// or a small(but expensive) Patterson Kelley on demand steam exchanger it has a steam coil inside of a tak that heats the water directly no need for a storage tank

    We mfr. a water heater skid that can use high pressure steam directly (no reducing or relief valves needed), uses 5.4% to 20% less steam than a conventional system (depends on your pressure), and doesn't need a pump to lift condensate back to the central return.

    So, it saves steam, and costs less to install than a conventional system. We can do water for either domestic or building heat.
