Keep Estimates Of Jobs You Didn't Get?

For a small contractor, do you think there is any reason to keep copies of the estimates for jobs you didn't get? Future marketing maybe? Or forget it and get rid of the papers, it's just more clutter.

    We have had many HO's call after more than a year and ask us to do the job. It is really helpful to have all of the previous work done and available. With the old paperwork we can retool it as needed w/out starting from scratch.

    Sure!

    especially the design info. Computers make it easy to do, but I also keep a hard copy in a file.

    Fun to pull them out when a homeowner calls with a problem from a job you "didn't get"

    The answers to the problems will be in your design info 9 times out of 10 :)

    Interesting to see how much of a bargin the really ended up with!

    Absolutely!

    For a lot of reasons: sometimes the ones you forget about and think you never got do come in. Reference for future jobs as to maybe why you doidn't get it. Put it in a special folder...and if you charged for the stimamte and didn't get it, you can write it off. Mad Dog
