    history of radiant heat

Radiant floor heating was originally employed by the Romans and the ancient Koreans who built fireplaces with long extended flues underneath rock and masonry floors. Hydronic (hot water based) radiant floor heating was born in the United States beginning in 1937. These systems used wrought iron pipe but were discontinued with the outbreak of WWII. After the war, radiant floor heating systems using soft copper tubing were popular in the U.S. but these systems experienced failures due to electrolytic corrosion between the copper and the concrete reinforcement and cracking due to expansion and contraction. At the same time, the Japanese and the Europeans began experimenting with radiant floor heating using plastic tubing and the modern age of radiant floor heating had begun.

    Thanks

This is a hard topic to find information on. I can't find an inventor taking credit anyplace. Maybe you should and rake in the royalties.

Anyway, thanks for the lead and for your speed.

    British heating engineers

began to use it in the 1920s, and a yar or two late, the French engineers Bigeault and Trnzine followed suit. The Japanese began floor heating in 1931, when Mr. Yanagimachi put it in his house. Thereafter, it was widly used for schools and other buildings in Japan. The Germans, Kollman and Liese, published their book on radiant heating in 1938, and this was the first text to deal with the subject.
    Retired and loving it.
