HOW DO THERMOSTATIC VALVES WORK IN A TWO PIPE HOT WATER BASEBOARD HEATING SYSTEM?

TRV's
Assuming you mean thermostatic radiator valves (TRV's), the valve allows you to turn each piece of radiation into it's own zone. The valve senses the temperature in the area and modualates flow of hot water through the baseboard to maintain a set temperature. These valves will not work on a series loops system without bypass lines, ie if any one of aareas is satisfied, it will stop flow in the entire loop.
