cast iron radiators

I'm doing a historical remodel. Part of the spec is to install hot water radiators. I chose burnhams slimline model.How far should the radiator be from the wall? I thought 6 inches would be about right. This is 170 degree average water temps. Any thoughts on this?

    Rad clearance

    Personally, I always leave them out far enough for a painting roller to fit behind.

    Not very scientific, but it keeps the painter from grumbling! ;-)

    Know it's somewhere in his writing along the lines of, "It took the dead mean a long time to determine the ideal spacing."

    2½" I believe, but possibly 2"...

    6" is too far. Why? Because you can use the convective component of a cast iron rad to induce some "sympathetic" radiation in a convectively warmed wall. Put it that far away and the only thing heating the wall is radiation.

    push nipples

    redoing an old house and we have a leaking radiator (which we have disassembled) the customer wants this radiator and not another. does anyone know where i can find #2 push nipples. approx. 1 3/8" long with a 1 5/16" crown going down to 1 7/8" on ends.
