I have a hot water baseboard rad that's in the way for a future patio door.
I would like to know the steps involved in shutting down the system, draining(if needed) and capping off the pipes.
Where do I start in draining the system and when drained where do I fill it back up?
Cheers

The old patio door story.......
First you need to find out if you can remove the radiation . You need to take a heat loss calulation of the rooms. You most likey need to add elsewhere in the room to matain a home comfort balance. Then you need to know and understand your hydronic system to proplerly remove , relocate or reinstall the proper amount of radiation..

No...just want to cut out old rad and install patio door. Heater didn't work well anyway. Prob air in the system so when I find out how to drain the system, cut out and cap lines and refill system...I'll be fine.
So in short...heater is going...not going back...and there is no shortage of heat in the house anyway.
