How does one set the antisipator on the T-stat ?

I know that one can not set the antisipator on an electronic thermo stat.I heard of a formula: of 1.4 times the amperage rating of the gas valve.Is this correct?

    Amp Draw

    Check the amp draw of your control circut, and set it to that, if you don't have a amp meter that reads that low you can coil a wire ten times and then divide your reading by ten.

    The 1.4 is a factor

    that Honeywell, White Rodgers and some other companies came up with for multiplying times the amp draw of high efficiency gas equipment. This was to insure that the equipment would give a cycle of close to 3 times per hour (longer cycles therefore less cycles per hour)this versus the conventional 6 times and hour these are based on 50% of heating load.

    It is best to set the anticipator to match the amperage draw of the primary control, gas valve, zone valve, relay, vent damper what ever control the thermostat directly controls.
