Got to see this one today

    a lead from FAC.

Boiler is about 4 years old and has a leak above the water line.

I couldn't verify it by filling the boiler because there was NO by-pass for the "auto-fill", but I figured that since I had to dump a Dixie Cup full of water from my combustion analyzer, it was an open and closed case of a hole above the water line.

The "header" is 2" copper pipe and I must say that I was amazed at how cheaply these folks figured out how to do it.

No Hartford, two dry returns that connect to the "equalizer" way above the top of the boiler much less the water line.

There is a pic of the "main vent(s).

The main vent taps were tied together with a 1/2" line, presumably to allow one main vent to vent the entire main.
Unfortunately, they removed the Main vent and installed a plug.

No ambient CO when I tested in, and no CO on the way out.

    The other guy tested NOTHING.

    With all the

money they saved from not piping it right they could afford that nifty new tiger loop!

Burnmaster! I would be ashamed to put a sticker with my name on this thing!

    The customer

frequents the Wall, so he was already up to speed on some of the issues I pointed out, in fact, he pointed a few out to me that he was already aware of.

I received an e-mail from this customer and he has decided to allow us to do the work for him. THANKS JOE!

He will be receiving a new Burnham V83 boiler and a complete re-pipe of the near boiler piping and, ready Steamhead?, two shiny new main air vents!

I will be posting pictures of the new installation when it is done. Which reminds me, I need to post some pictures of steam systems on our web site.

    Thanks Dan for the FAC!

    I am not sure

that Buhrmaster installed that boiler originally, in fact I doubt they did. They are WM folks and that boiler is an "Ultimate".

In fairness, they did point out that there is no hartford, but I am not certain about the other things I pointed out.

It is a certain fact that the existing boiler has NEVER been skimmed since there was no provision to do so, and the 1/4" of oil bouncing happily in the site glass was a dead giveaway.

In any event, the new boiler will have MY sticker on it!

    Sorry Mark,

I guess that was a cheap shot, But when I worked for oil companies I wouldn't sticker some of the stuff. 1, I didn't want them to call again! 2, In case of liability I did not want to be associated with it.

    Sorry Mr Burhmaster, I apologize.

    No apology required!

I tried to blur the name on the sticker with my photoshop, but I couldn't.

I should make sure I cover those in the future.

It was GREAT seeing you in Baltimore Bill!!!!
