Baseboard heating tie-in to electric water heater

I am doing an apartment project where the owner & his consulting engineer has mandated that a 119 gal elec water heater be used in each apartment to provide potable hot water and circulate potable hot water thru baseboard convectors via a heating loop. I am looking for thoughts on how to best connect the baseboard loop to the cold & hot water inlet/outlets on the water heaters - there are no hydronic taps on the sides of the tanks, a heat exchanger is also out of the question, there is no hot water return from the potable water fixtures.

Where did that "engineer" park his train? There are so many better ways to do what they are trying to accomplish, and all of them have no risk of bacterial infection. Too bad some of these "engineers" go through life derailed.

Not to mention....

you will need a lot of baseboard to make it work at low temps.....find another way to do it the right way OR find another "so called" engineer...kpc

You sure an engineer specified this???

I'd rather see you use electric resistance baseboard.

I recently had a brother-plumber try to tell me how he's planning on using an electric DHW heater to melt snow on a driveway. Some people just don't get it.

Open systems are for unprofessional amateurs. (MHO) I've been getting unsolicited mail from our friends in Vermont again. They're calling their open systems "The Comming Revolution in home heating" Don't do it. Use a HX.
