Usually cost
Dry base has a fire box below the boiler vessel, heat rises up to heat the water. Usually the low end models. Wet base and wet leg boilers bring the vessel down around the fire box so there's more sq. area of heat exchange surface exposed to the flame, better heat transfer, better efficency. Dry base are usually taller, thinner, wet legs are shorter and wider.0 -
