I repaired a leak on a steam system today it had a unimatch waterfeed with a honeywll low water cutoff I noticed when I shut the main switch off and then turned it back on the water feed filled the boilerIs this normal? If you turn the switch on and off a couple times if you were testing electrical it coud overfill and then you would need to drain just seems like an odd design

    It is an odd design

however, to NOT have that happen - would require a great deal more circuitry and god forbid someone design one that works differently than when the power is shut off to flood the boiler upon re-energizing the device.

I don't get into the field all hat much any more but...

I recall they all work that way. Turn the juice off and back on - flood the boiler.

    we use hydrolevel..

it has never done that for us..or to us, i should say..we cycle the power switch regularly, and i think i would have noticed the digital counter feed..something doesn't sound right or i'm not understanding the senario..

    Feeder......

That would appear to be the Uni-match's achilles heel. When would such a thing happen though? I would think, not too often. Most feeders your not suppose to run hot water through them either. I've been using (in certain jobs) an off the shelf 1/4" ips selenoid valve from grainger. You can run practically anything through it resonably speaking of hot water that is, and it's under $20.....Robert O'Connor/NJ
