Leaky Radiator

Heh Fellas,

We are retrofitting a old schoolhouse and adding some radiators that we pulled from another job. We don't work alot with cast iron rads. One has a crack. Does anyone know anyway that it can be fixed that would last? Please let me know.

    Have seen several attempts at repairs from welding to epoxy, and most have been failures except as short term bandades.

    I've successfully repaired HAIRLINE cracks in TUBE TYPE iron rads with JB Weld. Clean the area very well with a wire brush or similar and a solvent to ensure any greasy type dirt is removed.

    Column-type rads seem to break along the vertical lines in the casting. Have tried JB Weld on such but once under pressure the crack will pop with surprising violence--worst thing is that it might seem OK for a season or two before giving way.
