Adding a basement zone

a basement zone of copper-fin tube baseboard to the existing boiler. The existing heating system is a gravity hot water system. If I add a basement zone with a pump and a flo-check, will this mess up the rest of the heating system?
Would it help if I added a flo-check on both the feed and return?
Thanks for your input.

Possible
It would effect the flow on the gravity. Depend on the hook up. The forced flow of water could help or hinder the flow of gravity.... A safer bet would be using independent boiler taps(lot's of luck) . Better yet install a circ on the main zone as well .

Basement Zone
With a baseboard zone pump sized for low flow and NOT firing the boiler you may be able to accomplish this without overheating the rest of the house on a basement call for heat. Otherwise, properly sized zone pumps and flow checks are needed for both zones.0 -
With this setup, every time the basement calls for heat, the gravity side will also get heated. There is no way to stop it. I currently have the same situation at a customers. We have decided to go with a wall hung unit to heat the added zone.
If anyone can tell me how to pump from a gravity system w/out heat "gravitating" into the existing side I am more than all ears.0
