Can someone give information reguarding the effect of anit freeze and BTU output of water. Does adding anti freeze in a system change the amount of heat transfer to the water?

It works in every automobile running up and down the road regardless of location. You shouldn't be afraid of it in a hydronic system.

A 50/50 mix will lose about 10% conductive efficiency in the system because you've changed the density of the fluid. You also increase expansion rate and usually have to step up the tank size on larger systems.
