When putting in a two pipe reverse return system on the same floor as the boiler should the radiators be above the supply or below? And will water be naturally diverted into them or is the use of a balancing cock or diverter T required and where would they be placed? I've received different information on this.

The only way for the water to get from the supply to the return is across the rads, so yes the water will be diverted but you will need to fine tune it. You can put a valve on the supply side of the rads or better yet a TRV (thermostatic radiator valve) on all the rads away from where the main thermostat is located. Then they are all effectively zoned.0
