Split Loop Question

Greetings:
I have a hotwater baseboard system fed from an oil boiler. The upstairs loop of my home has a split-loop system as shown on this page [about half way down]: http://www.heatinghelp.com/heating_howcome4.cfm
Question - I notice that this has the hotwater feed going directly to the sides of the house in 3/4" pipes before joining in the 1" common pipe to return to the boiler. My loop has the same setup, but the flow goes in the opposite direction.
I bought the house a little over a year ago, and never experienced the old boiler before I had a new one installed by the local oil company. Is this still an accepted way for the water to flow, or should it go as diagramed on that web page? Should I reverse the direction?
Thanks,
Dave
