that works on a lot of the new boilers, and you get the same response, there is just not enough cast iron in the new boilers, this is true, in an effort to increase effiency, they cut down the mass, etc, while they are more efficent, but they are less tolarant to operating extreams,

under-temp - if the boiler has a lot of cold starts, then, untill the cast iron gets to 140f, it condenses corosive combustions gases, that eat it

if you are loosing a lot of water, the the fresh water eates it up

Leaking Burnham V Series, 5 years old!

I have a residential V series Burnham oil fired hot water baseboard system and it is leaking from the side of one of the sections. It is only 5 years old!! Is this common?? I THOUGHT I was buying a quality unit at the time. Any suggestions? All help will be greatly appreciated.

leaking boiler

we have had several of these boilers leak at sides and top i beleive the problem is cold return water /by-pass piping or return t/stats will take the shock out of the system

Unfortunately, you are not alone. Burnham has had a problem with this boiler, but to their credit, they really step up to the plate and honor the warranty. As posted here, contact your installer or the local Burnham rep.
