I recently moved into a 1925 house with one pipe system and a near-new Burnham boiler. Bought Dan's book and found out the size is correct and original steam lines are basically OK, but there are multiple flaws in the near-boiler piping due to a lazy install (copper, four 1.5" elbows between header and main, etc etc). I could probably improvise with the info in the book, but I'd like to see the manuf's recommendations. But when I look on Burnham's web site, the Install manual has absolutely zip about near-boiler piping recommendations. In fact nothing about piping at all. Help ???

You'll want to have a look at Burnham's Heating Helper Manual. It has what you're looking for and a whole lot more.
 It's a great little manual.

What is the model of the boiler you have? The on-line I&O manuals do have recommended piping diagrams. I believe that you are looking at the specification literature and not the I&O manuals. Let me know what you have and I'll be glad to point you in the right direction.
