Now that that's done- if that's a one-pipe system he will need to run all new return lines. If it's two-pipe, the existing returns may be too small. The existing radiators may not be able to handle the heating load on hot-water. And if a tenant leaves a window open, a hot-water radiator will probably freeze and burst, but a steamer won't.
I'm not a fan of this type of conversion. If he's having system problems it's much easier and cheaper to fix them than to try to convert it. All heating systems need maintenance- even hot-water systems.

Converting Steam to Water
I can't remember where I saw it, but somebody wrote a "do's & don'ts" and "how to" on steam conversion to water. Can anybody help direct me. My customer has a small apartment building that he would like to convert to water and get away from the care and maintenance of steam.
