hammering noise in the pipes

in THE MAIN WALL
problem: hammering noise in pipes (basement, main and second floors), t-stat on high, no heat coming from baseboards, don't hear any sound from the circulation pump.

question: could a faulty circ pump be causing all of these symptoms/problems, even the hammering noise?

furnace is Weil-McLain model CGM-6 series 10

please help if you can

    Bad pump and low system pressure.

    I would be willing to bet you have a combination of a bad pump, and low/no pressure in the boiler. Check your pressure and temperature guage on the boiler. Your pressure should be about 12 pounds (assuming the guage is accurate). If your pressure is close to or at 0, and your temp is near or above 210ºF, you are boiling the water into steam, which would cause your hammering. Shut it down before andy major damage is done. Then get a professional in to check the whole system over. If you don't have a contractor, click on Find A Contractor to find one in your area.
