There was a story earlier this year in a Detroit fish wrap about the great Flint tornado of fifty years ago. One of the excerpts was the story of a woman who was in her home when the tornado began ripping into it. She grabbed her young son and fell to the floor. When she tried to get up to run for better shelter, her foot got stuck in the floor heat register. Both she and her son held on as the rest of her house blew away. They were injured but alive.
And who says our industry doesnt save lives!

Years ago when I was an apprentice I was having lunch with the Master Plumber I was working with. He showed me a picture in his newspaper of a house that had burnt. All that was left was the cast iron soil stack WITH the toilet still attached and sitting in mid air.
He smiled and said to me " Now thats good Plumbing ".
Good work can survive alot

I've heard tell...
...but never seen, that black iron and standing rad systems actually help keep a frame home "together" in a tornado.0
