is it true that the only burner you can use on a low mass direct vent boiler, (in new england that is)is a riello.and if so ,why?

    Not so. Here in Maine you can install any direct vent boiler that is UL approved for that situation. Several manufacturers use Riello and other burners. You can't take a standard boiler and install a Riello or other high static burner and make it direct vent. It has to be a unit manufacturered for that installation, with approved venting kit.

    right... You have to use a boiler tjhat is designed to do that as a whole unit. Riello makes just one burner(the bf 3 & 5 ser)Carlin has the EZ/p10 series(my choice) and Becket the AF II. Buderus makes a real nice set up for their 115 ser. boilers. Burnham also has a package for their LE boiler (LMDV) and peerless just released a set up fro their WBV boiler.
    It is critical that these direct vents are set up and installed to the lettter of the Mfg. sooting will be a problem if not. good luck kpc
