I am going to install Dura Pex and am looking at the crimping tool to connect the tubing to the manifold. It is selling for $80.00 at my local dealer. Is this tool really that expensive? Is there an alternative especially since I am only doing 6 fittings.

Tubing Crimper
80 bucks is cheap....the one i rented when i did my system is a $500 german contraption, plus a couple hundred for the torque wrench...you need one for each size of pex0 -
Go to
www.durapex.com
Look under "plumbing" and then "tools". You can get one of the tools that you use a ratchet to tighten up the bolts for about $35 and then get a "go / no go" guage for a couple bucks more. Add shipping and it's just a bit cheaper than $80. You can also check other prices there for fittings, etc. The tool is more hassle than other crimp tools, but it works. The tool saves if you need to do 1/2" and 3/4" crimps since you only need to buy one tool to do both these.
