in THE MAIN WALL
i live in a 70 unit condo building, 8 stories. there seems to be an imbalance with the heating system. the line of apts. i live in have eratic temperature changes, from 67-78 degrees.
an engineer came and found that the water temperature was at 126 degrees and that this line needd an additional 8 inches of heating element. it has been proposed that an additional 48 inches be added to a room that is 13'x31'. this room has two windows, 46x77,with one convector of 48".
will this be too heated in one area and what about the use of thermostats on fin tube heating.

    call a plumber. it sounds like the boiler temp. just needs to be turned up. bob

    Baseboard

    Hi,

    The typical residential baseboard will provide 590 BTU/hr. per foot, so you'd gain over 2200 btu/hr into the room. This should help quite a bit. I'd assume that if you're really just over 120 degrees on the baseboard that there are other issues, like too long a run on a given branch, but more likely seems to be that the boiler just hadn't come up to temp. when the guy measured it. Adding baseboard will help regardless.
