Oil Burner Bummer

I have a oil burner that just before it ignites will cause static noise on any type of audio device in the house i.e speakers,computer, radio. I have heard this might be small amounts of current traveling back through the ground. Is it possible,what would cause such an annoying thing. I would appreciate all replys thanks.

    That sure is possible. A good clean ground is very important and if at all possible having a dedicated circuit to your heating appliance would help.

    Another thing

    Faulty relays on you aquastat can cause this. This problem was much more prevalent with the old style Honeywell aquastats than the newer ones, in fact there used to be surge suppressor available to alleviate this problem with these controls.

    In reality any bad or dirty electrical contacts can cause static and if the system isn’t grounded properly the static can be magnified. To find out what is actually causing the problem one has to be able to make the static repeatable and start eliminating possibilities. (Can be either low or high voltage.)
