Dump Valve??

A customer of mine asked me if I knew what company (companies) make a solenoid valve that would open and dump the water from a boiler if there was power failure. Does anyone have an idea for us?

    On wood boilers I have used normally open/ powered close zone valves to a gravity fed zone. Don't know if this is what they're looking for or not

    Automag zonevalves are powered close. They are often used on wood boilers on the dump zone. Very reliable and trouble free but people call during summer power failures saying there baseboard is warm!

    Don't dump the water from the boiler!!

    especially when it's hot. I think what he wants is a dump zone or buffer tank to dump into in the event of a power outage. I have seen it done sucessfully with 12 volt DC pumps connected to a deep cycle battery also. It give you enough pump time for the boiler to wind down without flashing to steam.
    I understand from owners the induced fan wood boilers actually wind down quickly when the power goes down. A dump zone is probably cheap insurance, however.

    I question, however how much heat you can "dump" into one 3/4" baseboard zone, in a warm home, certainly not near what a 140,000 boiler can produce with a belly full of fuel :)
    I rather see it dumped into the open 500 gallon buffer tank. Even if it somehow did get to 212 degress F with an open container there wouldn't be any burst factor.
