A few years back one was found out in the wild.

Did you search e bay for old literature?

  • Hi, Some years ago I donated my collection of antique water heaters to the General Society in New York. They have it on permanent display along with lots of related books and paperwork. I know there is literature on that heater but I never did get my hands on one. There certainly are lots of useful lessons in those old heaters. I have seen people post pictures of ones they have in service on various facebook appliance and construction groups too. You will probably find several here if you search forum.heatinghelp.com with google.

I see them from time to time…still puttin out! I remember the label said:

"Trageser Copper Water Heaters Idlewild New York"

For those who don't know, JFK International Airport was formerly called Idlewild International Airport. My father's side of the family and I were born and raised right in that area Ozone Park, Old and New Howard Beach and Hamilton Beach. I'm very interested if you could pinpoint the exact location or address of the factory for me.

Of course the area has been largely developed now. It was mostly open wetlands and creeks that cut through that area. Was it near Hawtree Creek Road? Mad Dog
